Scrollwalk vs an Instagram Reel: why a listing needs its own page

Updated 16 October 2026 · By Shyaam Niranjan, founder of Scrollwalk

Short answer: post the Reel and share a Scrollwalk page too. A Reel is free and good for reach, but it plays on a timer inside Instagram, a link in its caption isn’t clickable, and a buyer who wants the price or a viewing has to message you. A Scrollwalk page is where that buyer lands: a walkthrough they control, the listing details and an enquiry form, under your name.

What a Reel does well

  • It’s free and quick to post from the footage you already have.
  • It can reach new people. Instagram can show Reels to people who don’t follow you yet.
  • It builds your personal brand as the agent who shows homes well.

Where a Reel stops

  • It plays on a timer. Buyers can’t linger in the kitchen or go back to the stairs without scrubbing or rewatching.
  • The details are buried. Price, rooms, area, floor plans and photos sit in a caption or nowhere, so buyers ask the same questions in your messages.
  • Captions don’t link. A web address in a Reel caption isn’t clickable, so “link in bio” adds a step between interest and enquiry.
  • Enquiries arrive as messages and comments, mixed in with everything else, without the buyer’s details or a viewing request.
  • It lives in a feed. It sinks as you post more, and it shares the screen with other accounts’ content.
  • Not everyone uses Instagram. A buyer’s partner or parents, sent the Reel, may be asked to log in or open the app.

How to use both

  1. Film once. A vertical walkthrough works as the Reel and as the vertical version of your Scrollwalk listing. Add a landscape take for larger screens if you can.
  2. Publish the Scrollwalk listing and copy its link.
  3. Post the Reel with a line such as “Walk through the whole home: link in bio”, put the link in your bio and add it to a Story with a link sticker.
  4. Reply with the link. When buyers message you or ask in WhatsApp groups, send the listing page so they land on the details and the enquiry form.
  5. Watch what works. Scrollwalk shows how far buyers walk through each listing and which listings turn into enquiries.

What it costs

A single Scrollwalk listing is a one-off $15 (₹699 in India) for 90 days, and Individual plans start at $19 a month for 5 active listings. During pre-launch, from 23 October 2026, everyone on the waitlist gets 3 free listings with no card. See pricing, or compare Scrollwalk with Matterport 3D tours.

Questions

Common questions.

Is a Scrollwalk page better than an Instagram Reel?

They do different jobs. A Reel is best for reach: it can be shown to people who don’t follow you yet. A Scrollwalk page is best for turning that interest into an enquiry, with a walkthrough the buyer controls, the listing details and a way to contact you on the same page. Most agents will get the most from using both.

Can I use the same video for the Reel and for Scrollwalk?

Yes. A vertical walkthrough works as a Reel and as the vertical version of a Scrollwalk listing, which is what upright phones show. A slow, steady single take works best for both. If you can, add a landscape take for tablets and computers.

Does Scrollwalk post to Instagram for me?

No. Scrollwalk gives you a link for each listing. You post the Reel yourself and share the link in your bio, in Stories with a link sticker, in direct messages and on WhatsApp.

Will my listing link show a preview when I share it?

Yes. Scrollwalk listing pages include a title, description and preview image in the page itself, which is what WhatsApp, iMessage and most messaging apps read to show a link preview.

Why not just link to my own website?

You can, and Scrollwalk works alongside it. Many agency websites don’t have a walkthrough buyers control, and building a page for every listing takes time. A Scrollwalk listing is ready to share as soon as it’s published, and you can link to it from your website too.

Keep the Reel. Send them somewhere better.
